Not that I have any, but I thought it might be time to add a little “class and refinement” to my series of blogs, Luxury Hotels with Horses, Fish and Guns. So… check these out…
El Casco Art Hotel, Bariloche, Argentina
This will make me sound way cooler than I am, but when I was in Bariloche, Argentina (you know, up in the Lake District on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi), I stayed in this 31-room luxury boutique hotel owned by a successful gallery owner from Buenos Aires., Each room features original works by 31 artists so guests can enjoy their own mini-gallery with an incredible lake view. All-in-all, there are over 500 pieces of original art and sculpture scattered in and around the property, including their award-winning restaurant.
It was a great trip (not to mention riding horses across the Pampas with the Andes Mountains as a backdrop), and I came away with both a greater appreciation for modern art, and a desire to go back.
Great for a board retreat or small incentive, check it out at http://www.hotelelcasco.com/en/
21C Museum Hotel, Nashville, TN
21C Museum Hotels is a Kentucky-based boutique hotel and restaurant group founded by art collectors and preservationists that combine… in their words… “genuine hospitality, careful design and culinary creativity”. To sum that up… boutique luxury hotels with art museums and really good “chef-driven” restaurants. At the moment, they operate hotels in Louisville and Lexington, KY, Cincinnati, OH, Bentonville, AR, Durham, NC and Oklahoma City, OK. Their newest hotel… Nashville, TN.
The 21c Nashville will offer 124-rooms and a 10,500 square foot art museum and event space, a Chef Levon Wallace restaurant, and seven rooftop terrace suites.

Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, Ojai, CA
One of my favorite places. You will love it too. And… I have participated in their Art/Teambuilding program… and you will love that as well.
The resort features a fully-equipped art studio and your group can use it to do cool stuff like… create a Team Canvas with groups of 5-10 (total 60 people at a time) that will then be shared with the entire Team and… if you are brave enough, be analyzed by a professional art psychologist (and yes, there are such people). You can also do individual works of art and have private reviews… or you can do tile painting, or glass paining, or mixed media, or silk scarf painting or herbal wreath making… or… other art stuff.

Bellagio Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, NV
We’ve all been at wine tastings, at food & wine pairings, at chocolate and wine receptions… and just about every other combination of wine and something. Now it’s time for an Art & Wine Pairing. True.
The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art is a real gallery with real stuff and routinely organizes exhibitions in partnership with the world’s top museums and foundations. Your group can hold a private event in their premier exhibition space AND have Bellagio’s sommelier partner with their Art Gallery director to pair wine with the galleries current exhibition. It’s important to have the right demographic for your group, but if you do, they will be treated to an elegant wine tasting while receiving a private and expertly guided tour.
As an example… “Picasso: Creatures & Creativity” focused on Picasso’s favorite theme, the human figure. The exhibition took guests on a step-by-step journey through the famed artist’s thought progression and creative process behind his painting and printmaking…. While drinking. J

There are some other great “Artsy” hotels (and others with horses, fish and guns too), so I will keep adding more recommendations to our Meeting Resource Library. I am also writing another series about Retreats with Cooking Schools on property and will keep on keeping on, trying to give you more options and ideas. If you (singular) have some, send them to me so I can share them with You (plural).
