Part of my job… to give you (as in the meeting/event planner) ideas about things you can use. I try to put them in to categories, but sometimes they all just overlap. So here is a “conglomeration” that I hope you can use. :)
Bay Lights Charters & Gas Light Schooner www.baylightscharters.com
This luxurious San Francisco Bay based 70' schooner, based on a mid-1800’s design, is the kind of ship that helped make San Francisco a major port “way back when”.
Your group can hoist the sails, take the wheel, and learn to operate as a team as they sail the Bay (or sail into McCovey Cove so you can take in the ball game from the Bay). The ship can accommodate up to 49 for a party… the teambuilding is best kept at around 20.
Talking Stick Resort www.talkingstickresort.com
Hey, wait a second, how did this 496-room Scottsdale resort with 50k square feet of meeting space 36-holes of golf, a 90k sq. ft. casino, six restaurants, 3 pools and a Las Vegas style showroom appear in a team building blog? Because… they have a “zillion” team building options either on property or “like”, right there.
Salt River Fields… Spring Training for the Diamondbacks and Rockies… you can rent it for a game, or batting practice, or… whatever. They’ll help you put it all together.
Octane Raceway… Kart Racing plus… iFly Indoor Skydiving… kind of speaks for itself… The OdySea Aquarium… not only for off-site dining (which is cool), but how about underwater ocean walking (which one would assume is underwater)… PS – The Aquarium also has a Butterfly Wonderland that has between 3000 to 5000 butterflies (presumably it is hard to count them because they keep moving) or… Dolphinaris Arizona (yes, swimming with dolphins)… Topgolf at Riverwalk… a combination of driving range, bowling and sports bar (to some that sounds like Heaven)… and other things I didn’t even include because they are more than a mile away.
Signature Teambuilding and WaterWorx
This is the kind of thing that would drive me crazy and give me hot flashes, but on the other hand, it is the kind of thing my wife (who is good at making and fixing things) would not only love, but become obsessed with…
Teams of up to seven people… there are four cups, each with a “source color”. There are twelve empty cups. They give you tubing, valves, pumps… all sorts of “stuff”… and your team has to design a system that will, upon demand, transport the liquid from a source cup to an assigned empty cup. What? Watch the video. You’ll see. It’s a real thing.
OK… I have a lot more ideas contributed by my amazing network of colleagues, but I will save those for another day. You can also check out the “Library” at allthingmeetings.com to see past blogs and ideas. Have Fun!
