Perry Lane Hotel, a new Luxury Collection property - Savannah Georgia

Donna Cohen

I have decades of experience creating and producing online marketing. I left the corporate world to work independently with people who need help establishing and maintaining their online presence. Not everyone knows how, has the aptitude, or time to learn how to use online marketing tools, and nor should they have to try. Those people who need help and/or don't want an in-house marketing team work with me. Each client has different needs, goals and expectations. I do custom work for each of my clients. I get to know each person and know their voice, their style, rhythm and budget.

I have a large skill set that covers the range of tasks for online marketing. It is both easy and cost efficient to work directly with me. I can get the whole job done.

The 338-room Four Diamond hotel, offering 18,000 square feet of meeting space and a full-service Spa, is right on the historic River Walk and within walking distance of the Alamo, El Mercado, La Villita District, Spanish Governor’s Palace, and the San Antonio Convention Center. And when we were checking in, the comedian Bill Maher was checking in behind us. Just thought I would name drop.

This 55-room hotel could be in SoHo or Santa Monica. But it’s not, it’s in Marfa

on conde nasts hot list for 2017 - marfa a design center

The Saint George Hotel. http://marfasaintgeorge.com/

This 55-room hotel could be in SoHo or Santa Monica. But it’s not, it’s in Marfa. And it’s great. Well-appointed rooms, great restaurant, friendly service. On Conde Nast’s 2017 Hot List. Really. I asked their DOS what kind of groups come there… she listed quite a few… Chinese Vogue was arriving the next day. Let me just say that if I had a group of people involved in the fashion or design field, and I had the time and money to get the group to Marfa… I would. It’s like no other place. And my hippie bus fit right in… although the battery died and we had to replace it… but if I had to be stuck somewhere, it might as well be Marfa.

250-Room French Renaissance Chateau On An 8000-Acre Estate - Asheville, NC

biltmore flyfishing-all-things-meetings.jpg

Biltmore

The Vanderbilt’s were really rich. Cornelius V. started it all in one of America’s classic rags-to-riches stories, building a railroad and shipping empire from nothing. His grandson, George, being born into great wealth, had it a bit easier. What to do with all that money and time? Well, on the side he had built what is probably the largest private residence ever in America… a 250-room French Renaissance chateau on an 8000-acre estate outside Asheville NC. You can’t stay there… but… you can stay at the four-star, four-diamond Inn on the Biltmore estate. It only has 210 rooms so it’s really just the guest-cottage, but… nice enough.

And in addition to every other activity you can think of, they also offer… you guessed it…  an Orvis Endorsed Fly-Fishing School. They customize their lessons to the experience of each individual within the group, beginning with dry casting instruction and then transitioning to either fly-fishing on their lake from a drift boat, a guided half-day adventure float trip on the French Broad River for Smallmouth Bass, or exciting full-day guided wade trip fishing for trout in one of their local streams. Group size is usually limited to 15 guests at a time, but “arrangements can be made”.

Partnership with the National Shooting Complex (great for group activities), a 600+ acre complex 6 miles from The Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort, San Antonio, TX

The Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa

I am already breaking my own rule about only writing about properties with Gun Clubs on property… because this property does not have one. BUT… what they do have is a partnership with the National Shooting Complex, a 600+ acre complex just six miles from the resort. The NSC is recognized as one of the largest and most complete shooting complexes in the World (that’s right – the world). I will go so far to say within our Solar System.

As the headquarters for the National Skeet Shooting Association and National Sporting Clays Association, it hosts elite tournaments for both sports. Their promo material also says they host thousands of serious competitors and casual shooters each year. I am not so sure I want to be around a bunch of casual shooters, but I will assume that is a technical term. The promo material also refers to their complex as being a property filled with peaceful rolling hills and gun enthusiasts. I have to look up oxymoron in the dictionary, but I am guessing that qualifies.

The Complex staff has extensive experience in event management and can create a program to match your needs, from a small company outing to a large competitive or corporate event. That’s what they do. (www.nssa-nsca.org)

The Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa is built upon 300 (peaceful) acres of the historic Rogers-Wiseman family ranch. With 500 guestrooms, over 73,000 square feet of indoor meeting and pre-function space, 100,000 square feet of natural outdoor event space, and all of the Hyatt service stuff, it’s a nice place. For those who don’t want to just shoot at things with guns, there is a 27-hole Arthur Hills golf course, a Spa, a 950-foot “Ramblin’ River” (I am no expert so I do not know if 950 feet is a long Ramblin’ River or a short one), and a FlowRider Wave Machine (of all things). 2500 Acre Ocean Reef Club An Upscale Private Membership Club That Allows Corporate Groups - Key Largo, FL

Ocean Reef Club

I am not quite sure how to describe the 2500 acre Ocean Reef Club other than to say it’s an upscale Private Membership Club that allows corporate groups to stay in it’s Inn (or rent condos) and use the facilities. Located one hour south of Miami, it sometimes feels like is its own town (and there are definitely very tan year-round residents driving golf carts around). Also has lots of very big private yachts docked in its Marina. Very big.

Besides the 144-room Inn and golf and spa and tennis center, it has its own airport, marina, medical center, fire station, museum and shopping district. But whatever you call it… it has fish. Whether “the destination decider” goes for the excitement of deep-sea sport fishing, reef fishing, bone-fishing (I have no idea) or back-country fishing, they have it. (www.oceanreef.com)

77-Room Hotel Has 31,527 Sq Ft Of Meeting Space, A Luxury Collection Hotel - San Antonio, TX

St. Anthony

The first thing I want to say about the St. Anthony... it was built in 1909 and was the first fully air-conditioned hotel in the world. Now that is, by definition, cool. It also had the first auto-opening doors in Texas, and even better… you could check-in from your car in the underground garage and go straight to your room to freshen up before heading down to the lobby bar to be “seen” (because who would want to be seen all covered in dust from driving across Texas? Certainly neither you nor me).

In round numbers, the 277-room hotel has 31,527 square feet of meeting space including a truly elegant 4,721 square foot ballroom (with crystal chandeliers). And yes, since their last renovation they have all of the modern stuff you need too.

And finally (for now)… this “new” hotel has nothing to do with Art Deco, but you really didn’t care about that anyway.  www.thestanthonyhotel.com
