The property also features 4500 sq ft of meeting space and the (fantastic) restaurant, John Ash & Co.

In September this 44-room boutique hotel on 92 acres of vineyards just outside Santa Rosa will become a 78-room boutique hotel and Spa (on 92 acres of vineyards). The property also features 4500 square feet of meeting space and the (fantastic) restaurant, John Ash & Co. (it was really good). (Full disclosure… I was GM here back in 1999-2000 and so I like them)

I have decades of experience creating and producing online marketing. I left the corporate world to work independently with people who need help establishing and maintaining their online presence. Not everyone knows how, has the aptitude, or time to learn how to use online marketing tools, and nor should they have to try. Those people who need help and/or don't want an in-house marketing team work with me. Each client has different needs, goals and expectations. I do custom work for each of my clients. I get to know each person and know their voice, their style, rhythm and budget.

I have a large skill set that covers the range of tasks for online marketing. It is both easy and cost efficient to work directly with me. I can get the whole job done.

There is nothing like it, so if you have a group in Wine Country you should somehow figure out how to take them here

There is nothing like it, so if you have a group in Wine Country you should somehow figure out how to take them here. The following words will not do it justice… your group boards open air 1953 military vehicles and proceeds, with the help of some expert guides, to bounce around 400 acres containing approximately 1200 African animals (give or take depending upon the birth rate). You can come for the day… do some custom-designed teambuilding stuff (in addition to the bouncing around part), have some great food… and even stay overnight! Yes, call it Glamping… they have thirty luxury tents (imported from Botswana) with private viewing decks, real bathrooms and polished hardwood floors. You should do this.

If your group wants a nice place for an off-property event, combined with excellent wine and a beautiful setting, consider it.

Martin Ray Winery
www.martinraywinery.com

Located on the site of one of the oldest continually working wineries in California, this Russian River Valley winery has indoor space for about 100 guests, and plenty of outdoor space for larger events and fun (including the requisite bocce ball court). If your group wants a nice place for an off-property event, combined with excellent wine and a beautiful setting, consider it.

Benziger, Sonoma perfect setting, excellent wine and, really, really nice people.

Benziger Family Winery & Imagery Estate Winery, Glen Ellen, CA http://benziger.com

Not to choose favorites, but whenever guests come to visit and we go up to Sonoma Valley, Benziger is the winery we go to first. Why? Perfect setting, excellent wine and (and I am not making this up), really, really nice people. They have a couple of great areas for private events… I like them.

3 Private Rooms - Great Food By James Beard Award-Winning Author, Chef-Owner Mustards Grill - St Helena

Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen

Created by Cindy Pawlcyn, the James Beard Award-winning cookbook author, chef-owner of Napa Valley’s Mustards Grill and co-creator of many renowned Bay Area restaurants (including Fog City Diner, Bix, Roti, Tra Vigne and Buckeye Roadhouse), Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen is located in downtown St. Helena… and is good. :)

There are three private rooms; The Gallery (up to 56 guests), The White Room (up to 20 guests) and the Patio (up to 20 guests with a wood-burning oven and a 100-year old fig tree). Or you can take over the entire restaurant (up to 80 guests seated). www.cindysbackstreetkitchen.com

Previously Known As Greystone Cellars, Grand Cathedral Ceilings & Massive Hand-Cut Stone Walls, - St. Helena

Culinary Institute of America at Greystone

They say, ”The Culinary Institute of America sets the standard for quality with an unparalleled culinary approach and philosophy.” I’m no expert on that stuff, but based on my non-expertise, I am going to say that yes, that seems true. :)

Previously known as Greystone Cellars, with grand cathedral ceilings and massive hand-cut stone walls, it is now brimming (that is my word and although I don’t know if it really fits, it sounds good anyway) with teaching kitchens and demonstration theaters, perfect for team-building (and eating and drinking). Same goes for private lunches/dinners.

They can handle groups of all sizes and will customize an event and… they know what they are doing. www.ciachef.edu/cia-california/

In addition, they have a new location in downtown Napa, the CIA at Copia. I did not write about it in my previous downtown Napa blog… but now you know.

Merryvale Winery's Historic Cask Room Is Quintessential Wine Country - St. Helena

Merryvale Vineyards

This St. Helena winery’s historic Cask Room, with two stories of century-old 2,000 gallon casks lining the stone walls, is quintessential Wine Country. You can start in the tasting cellar with a reception… then the lights are dimmed, candles lit, the music begins… the curtains are drawn revealing the dining room (for up to 112 guests)… trust me, it’s cool. And if you didn’t already know this… there are some really good chefs in Napa Valley who would just LOVE to cater your event. www.merryvale.com

Located on 60 acres in the famed Stags Leap District - Napa, CA

 Cliff Lede Vineyards

Cliff Lede Vineyards

Cliff Lede Vineyards (Yountville)

Located on 60 acres in the famed Stags Leap District, this beautiful venue offers five indoor and outdoor spaces for up to 150 guests. The contemporary steel and wood architecture, floor to ceiling glass doors, the beautiful vineyard views, museum-quality art, and the general feeling that Cliff Lede (the guy) really likes rock & roll, makes this a venue you should definitely consider. And as an extra note… they also own the Poetry Inn, a five bedroom luxury Inn perched directly above the property… just in case. www.ledefamilywines.com

Two Spots for Formal or Casual Dining – Great Food - Napa, CA

 Bottega, Napa Valley

Bottega, Napa Valley

Bottega Napa Valley and Ottimo

Located in the middle of Vintage Estates (between Villagio and Vintage Inn), Bottega Ristorante has long been a favorite venue for private dining (for groups from 12 to 120). There are three private rooms, plus you can also take over the whole place (il Tutto) that could accommodate up to 200. As an aside… the food and service is great. www.botteganapavalley.com

Just across from Bottega is Ottimo, a casual dining spot that can be taken over and transformed into a formal dining room for up to 100. One idea… have your dinner in Bottega and then walk over to Ottimo for late-night partying. I vaguely remember the days when that sounded like fun. www.ottimo-nv.com

The Blue Note Is A Jazz Club/Gourmet Restaurant Occupying The Historic Napa Valley Opera House

Blue Note Napa

Ready for this… in 1972 I was first alternate tenor sax player for the New York All-State High School Jazz Band. Unfortunately for me (but fortunately for the Band), no one got sick so I didn’t get to play. Why am I telling you this? Because back in the early 70’s in NYC, I would often go to the legendary Blue Note to hear my jazz heroes blow my mind.

And now… in keeping with the “Jazz is Important” tradition, The Blue Note Napa is a jazz club/gourmet restaurant occupying the first floor of the historic Napa Valley Opera House, and you (and your group) can buy it out, eat, drink, and be merry. You don’t have to listen to jazz, you can bring in anyone you want, but the place is all set up for that intimate club experience. www.bluenotenapa.com
